cleaning : day to day calendar

well, we are officially moving … to a bigger house. which means … more cleaning for this mama! before i get overwhelmed by the process of adding two bedrooms, a laundry room, another bathroom and a playroom to my cleaning list, i decided to make a calendar and share it with you on an effective way to clean without getting overwhelmed.

here’s the calendar … below is more of a “step by step” or explanation of what to do!

cleaning calendar

i’ve included all natural cleaning spray recipes too. i’m 7 months pregnant and we have A LOT of cleaning to do … and i want to do it safely! plus, when the baby comes, i won’t want him breathing in harsh chemicals either!

mondays : dust everything. you will be so surprised at how quickly it collects if you don’t. furniture, books, decorations. do it all.

if you are looking for an all natural dusting spray, try this : 1 cup warm water + 1 tsp lemon juice + 2 tsp olive oil + 1/4 cup white vinegar. add in a spray bottle and shake to mix.

tuesdays : clean bathrooms. that means everything (except dusting … which you did yesterday!) do the tubs, toilets, sinks, mirrors (and you should be sweeping the floors every day!)

here is an all natural toilet bowl cleaner : 1 cup white vinegar + 1/4 cup baking soda + 1/4 borax. mix in a bottle and pour small amount in bowl to scrub.

got grout in your tub? try this … 1/4 cup white vinegar + 1/2 cup baking soda. mix in a bowl and use a toothbrush or soft brush to apply. after 5 minutes, rinse off.

wednesdays : mop floors. bathrooms and kitchens!

thursdays : wash bedding. there is nothing better than clean sheets! do it all at once so everyone can feel fresh!

fridays : clean walls and doors. this means, wipe them down : baseboards, moldings, door frames … and spot check your walls. i know with our kids, the walls are never free from destruction!

here’s an all natural all purpose cleaner : 400mL warm water + 1/2 tsp dish soap (for some reason … dawn is preferred) + 4TBSP white vinegar + 2 tsp baking soda. add to a spray bottle and shake to mix.

saturdays : we call saturdays our outdoor chore day … so i made our indoor chores easy on us! wipe down kitchen appliances. small and large. and don’t for get the sides and backs of things. (aka … not JUST the stove top. make sure the door and sides are clean too!)

sundays : misc. clean up day … sundays are the day of rest in our family, as the Lord calls us to take! so we use it! however, sundays, for some reason, are a good day for me to clean mirrors and windows. not sure why it works out that way, but it does! just make sure clutter is picked up and spot clean around the house if necessary.

if you are up for cleaning glass, here’s the all natural recipe : 1/4 cup rubbing alcohol + 1 TBSP cornstarch + 2 cups warm water + 1/4 cup white vinegar. mix in a spray bottle by shaking.

reader interaction : do you keep a cleaning chart to stay on track? share or link up your ideas!
